Bespoke dinnerware for Viu, St. Regis Hotel Bangkok
In 2010 Glass Studio worked with St. Regis Hotel Bangkok on designing a wide range of dinnerware pieces for the hotel’s dining venues. Today we present to you our designs for Viu restaurant, opened in April 2011.
Viu is located on the 12th floor of St. Regis Bangkok, offering impressive view overlooking the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. The restaurant offers wide choice of international dishes, which are changing depending on the morning or dinner menus. The restaurant’s decor was conceptualized as elegant dining venue with a hint of a “stately home” atmosphere. It features elements in white and brown wood (for the contemporary rustic feel), with outbursts of red details. The focal point of the restaurant is the open kitchen, which has a certain rustic farmhouse flair to its design.

Glass Studio worked with restaurant’s team in creating dinnerware designs that will highlight restaurant’s elegance and style. Although Viu is an all day dining venue, the restaurant’s team expressed wish to use dinnerware as the focal decor point for tabletop designs. Key pieces for this venue were beautifully designed glass show plates. Classic round plates featured our signature mosaic “disco” pattern with a metallic finish, which added a dynamic feel to the tabletop and a good contrast to the rustic concept.

Among dinnerware designs for this venue, we also created large shell-shaped ice buckets, which are especially handy for the restaurant’s signature Astor Champagne breakfast. The impressive shape of the champagne holder was softened with a splash of gold color pattern, which adds a playful note to the piece.
